The TAB Everest, The World’s Richest Race On Turf,
Is Sydney’s New Spring Carnival Showpiece Event.
The TAB Everest aims to bring together the best sprinters from around the world to chase a slice of the $15 million in prizemoney at Royal Randwick. The 1200m sprint is the centrepiece of a new-look spring racing program introduced by Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club. The carnival boasts a staggering $25.5 million prizemoney over a eight-week period from September 17 to November 5.
The TAB Everest will take centre stage on the final day, Saturday 15 October 2022, with total stakes for the meeting exceeding $17 million — making it Australia’s richest race day.
What is The TAB Everest?
The format of The TAB Everest features 12 starters with horses nominated by slot owners who have paid $600,000 to secure a slot (starting position) in the race. The slot owner has the right to nominate their own horse for the race, sell their slot or do a deal with the owner of another horse to share the prizemoney.

When is The TAB Everest?
The inaugural running of the The TAB Everest was held at Royal Randwick on October 14, 2017, and thereafter, on the second Saturday of October each year. The race is run under weight-for-age conditions over the sprinting distance of 1200m. The timing of the race is a neat fit for the Sydney spring carnival, bringing the feature racing to a climax with the world’s richest race on turf.
